Dental Program
What We're About
The HOPE Dental Program was created
to increase oral health awareness among the homeless population in
Washington, DC, through distribution of oral health literature and
oral care products in soup kitchens, shelters, and HOPE’s Mobile
Soup Kitchen (MSK) to the homeless. Further, we hope to improve the
access to oral health services for the homeless population in Washington,
D.C.
We plan to distirubte oral care
products and a comprehensive listing of available oral health care
services to those in need. In conjunction with Miriam's Kitchen and
the Howard University School of Dentistry, we plan to establish a
program where individuals experiencing homelessness may schedule appointments
with dental students through Miriam's Kitchen case managers.
What Can You Do?
While a lot of the ground work
has already been done, this is still an extremely young organization
that needs a lot of work that will not get done without a dedicated
group of volunteers. The Dental Program offers a wide variety of service
opportunities from direct work with the homeless population, work
with the different organizations partnered with us, or grant writing
for all the funding we still need! HOPE Dental is a great way to touch
service at any level, and get involved in your Georgetown community
and the people of the District of Columbia.
