Spring Break Toiletry Drive

March 12-23, 2007

If you are going away this Spring Break, bring back the free sample sized soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc. from your hotel! If you are going home, raid your mom's bathroom closet for an extra bar of soap or toothbrush! If you are staying at Georgetown, buy an extra stick of deodorant at Safeway or Vittles when you do your grocery shopping!

Please don't just throw away the flyer/plastic bag that will be either taped to or slid under you door! Instead, help H.O.P.E provide relief for D.C. residents currently experiencing homelessness.

Please fill a plastic bag with whatever donations you and your roommates can dig up over vacation. After break, drop the bag (or just the items) off at the donation box nearest you (locations yet to be determined) .

We will distribute these items to the men and women we serve every week with our Mobile Soup Kitchen.

Thank you for your help!

Items Needed:
Soap
Deodorant
Toothbrush/Toothpaste
Mouthwash
Razors
Shampoo/Conditioner

Winter Collection Drive

As the winter season approaches, many thigns become more difficult for the clients that HOPE serves through our Friday Food and Mobile Soup Kitchen programs. All week we will be collecting warm winter clothing and blankets, which we will then distribute to our clients on these programs.
We will be collecting new packaged socks, gloves, hats, scarves, jackets, and blankets.
Please remember that most of our clients prefer large men's sizes.

The end of the year is also a time when many families in DC may struggle to make ends meet, and city resources like the Capital Area Food Bank see an increased demand for their services.
All week we will be distributing brown paper bags at our table in Red Square. Fille them with canned non-perishables like canned foods (especially meats, fruits, and vegetables), peanut butter, canned soups, and dry pasta
We'll be collecting your bags of canned goods in Red Square all day on Friday and donating them to the Capital Area Food Bank that afternoon -- just in time for Thanksgiving!
