Do you want to help people who are homeless in our Nation's Capitol?
Do you want to help provide improved living conditions for these citizens?

KEYS for the Homeless Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides
everyday basic household goods and supplies, contributed by members of the
Hotel Association of Washington, DC, at no cost, to those living in poverty, community
shelters, transitional housing, and to economically disadvantagedchildren and adults
to meet real life needs. At present, KEYS for the Homeless Foundation provides over
35 organizations with resources and serves over 30,000 individuals in the Washington DC Metro Area.
Why are H.O.P.E volunteers so crucial to this organization?
KEYS for the Homeless Foundation depends on the steady and strong support of Hoya
volunteers who make sure that the reallocation of resources can be effectively and efficiently
carried out. Twice a month student volunteers gather to:
Prepare goods in storage for future redistribution,
Pick up contributions from local Washington DC hotels,
Deliver contributions to various programs who serve the DC homeless population
Meet at the front gates on specified pick-up days and for just a few hours go
behind the scenes to help move the wealth in DC into the hands of those who need it the most!
We are not in search of new resources…
Instead we are in search of the hands to move all that we already have!

When individual lives and communities are touched by shared hope, compassion
and generosity, we then ‘capitalize’ on this enormous potential as it clearly impacts our ability to
make a vital difference in the lives of so many. “Compassionate Capitalism” as Bill Gates
describes, significantly describes our Nation’s Capital’s capability to achieve these ENDS. (i.e. End Homelessness)
As noted by Leading Without Power, Finding Hope in Serving Community, Max de Pree, states
that one of the attributes of a “vital organization” is justice. As a member of Fortune magazine’s
National Business Hall of Fame, he writes from forty years of experience in the corporate world,
and assures us that “the heart of justice in organizations is relationships on right practice”. In addition,
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U. S. Department of Health and Human
Services, August, 1999, Practical Lessons: The 1998 National Symposium on Homelessness Research,
‘Giving Voice to Homeless People in Policy, Practice and Research’ states that “through the allocation
of adequate resources and education, the organization will be laying a foundation for true empowerment.”
